History of Rock Creek Bible Church
On Sunday, October 10, 1971 a group of people in Jefferson County, KS met together in the Rock Creek Community Church Building for a memorial service of a community resident. From that meeting, interest was generated to begin regular weekly services with a full range of Sunday School Classes. Reverend Charles Scott was the first pastor with pastor Robert Zieg coming as full - time minister in 1976.
In the spring of 1982, the church board began to deal with some of the problems they were having with the rented building in Rock Creek. They searched the Lord's leading with regard to relocating and in August of that year, the corner of K-4 and 92 Highways was donated for a new church building. On May 1st of the following year ground was broken and by faith, the first phase of the new building was moved into on the first Sunday of 1984. Construction of the second phase containing the sanctuary was begun almost immediately and dedicated to the Lord on April 13, 1986.
Due to growth and a felt need for an activity center for youth, Phase three of the building program was undertaken in 1987 and is now complete. In the years since, the church has undergone several changes within our building. All these changes have been with the desire to better help us reach our community and renew our family in Christ. At present the building is again undergoing strategic changes to help us fulfill God's call upon us today.
The most valuable "stones and sticks" that make up Rock Creek Bible Church are the people. The people that God is working to transform into a temple that honors His Son! Come and see what God can do with you.
